New Faculty & Staff    

Please welcome our newest faculty and staff members to the Barnesville School for the 2011-2012 school year. 

David Martin    
Mr. David Martin joins us as our new Physical Education Teacher / Athletic Director. David comes to us from Seneca Academy where he served as Athletic Director for the past five years. In his career, David has been an assistant strength coach for both the NFL and the US Olympic Bobsled Team, and he owns and operates a personal training and wellness company. David has also been a girls lacrosse coach for Montgomery County Public Schools the past five years. David holds a B.S. in Sports Management and Physical Education from Skidmore College.
Kristen Carter    
Ms. Kristen Carter is our new Director of Communications and Marketing. Kristen most recently worked at Holton-Arms School, where she was the Director of Public Relations for four years.  Previously she held communications positions at various non-profit organizations, including the National Women's Political Caucus, The American Association of Blood Banks, and Planned Parenthood of Maryland. She has also been a parent volunteer at a peer independent school, and she has chaired annual fundraising auctions, published newsletters, managed email communications and co-chaired the yearbook committee. Kristen has a B.S. in Communications from Ithaca College, and she is currently completing her work toward an M.S. in Communications at Johns Hopkins.
Jamie Morningstar    

Ms. Jamie Morningstar will be teaching prekindergarten each morning, then transitioning to second grade in the afternoon to support fluid mathematics and reading groups.  Ms. Morningstar is a graduate of Frostburg State University, where she received a B.S. in Early Childhood / Elementary Education, achieving a 4.0 GPA during her time there. She is currently pursuing an M.S. in Education at Frostburg as well with a concentration in Special Education, and she plans to complete her graduate work this winter. Jamie has held numerous teaching intern positions in Allegany County public schools as part of her undergraduate studies. She has a particular interest in the role of technology in early childhood education, and she currently serves as an educational technology instructor at Frostburg, instructing other prospective educators in the use of new technology. Jamie is also an experienced basketball player, and we look forward to having her support Barnesville’s basketball teams this coming year. In addition, Jamie has a strong interest in community service, and she serves as a mentor in Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Ana Ouellette    

Ms. Ouellette is our new Early Childhood Instructional Aide, and she will be assisting our students and faculty Tuesday through Thursday mornings.  She comes to us from The Arc of Montgomery County (MPAC), where she served for three years as a teaching assistant for students with developmental needs.  Prior to this, she lived in Massachusetts and was a teaching assistant and preschool teacher.  Ms. Ouellette has completed coursework in Early Childhood education both at Holyoke Community College and Montgomery Community College. When not teaching, she enjoys live theater, zumba classes, caring for her dog, hiking, gardening, and spending quality time with her family.

Shannon Finecey-Icore    
Mrs. Shannon Finecey-Icore joins us to teach middle school mathematics.  Mrs. Icore comes to us most recently from Howard Community College, where she has been a mathematics instructor for the past twelve years.  Shannon has extensive experience teaching algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, and she also has been a private tutor both in mathematics and in standardized testing preparation.  A lifelong learner, Shannon received her B.A. in Economics and Finance from UMBC, her M.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix, and this March she will complete her second B.A. in Mathematics from Ottawa University.  She has Maryland public school teaching certification for elementary and middle school, and she completed student teaching at Valley Elementary School in Jefferson.
