Each year, third grade students are asked to research a famous American. Each student then works to create a parade float related to that particular American. In addition, they dress up as their subject and after they "parade" their float up to the podium, each student presents a speech about their character. Parents are invited to view the presentations and learn about these historic figures. This activity serves as the first exposure for students in public speaking.
