Summer Camp >  FAQ >

How do I register my child?
Campers may enroll in any or all camp sessions on a first come, first serve, space-available basis. To reserve a space, complete the online registration form along with payment. Due to limited enrollment, registrations are not honored without the appropriate forms and fees on file.
What does tuition cover?

Tuition covers all costs associated with camp—materials, supplies, field trip fees, etc.

Can I get a refund?

Tuition refunds will not be made unless a notice of withdrawal and a formal request for a refund is delivered to the camp, in writing, on or before May 1, 2012. In all cases a 20 percent tuition deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. No refunds will be given after June 1, 2012. Refunds or make-up days are not given for absences.

Are camps ever cancelled?

The Barnesville Camp reserves the right to cancel any program that does not meet minimum enrollment requirements. In the event that this occurs, full refunds will be made.

What are the requirements for age 3 campers?
Children registering for the age 3 programs must be eligible for preschool in the fall of 2012 (age 3 by September 1) and must be potty trained.
Do we need to complete health forms?

All camp participants must have a Health and Permission Form on file in order to participate in camp.

What are the camp hours?
Camp begins promptly at 9 am each day and ends at 4 pm. Morning and full-day campers may arrive any time between 8:45 and 9 am. Morning campers must be picked up between 12 and 12:15 pm. There is no midday bus service. Any morning campers not picked up by 12:15 pm are placed in afternoon camp and parents are billed accordingly. Afternoon campers may arrive between 12:45 and 1 pm. All full-day and afternoon campers must be picked up at the school between 4 and 4:10 pm. AM Care is available from 8 to 9 am; PM Care is available from 4 to 6 pm. Parents are billed accordingly for campers enrolled in AM or PM care. There is a $2.00 per minute fee for children left on campus past 6 pm. Parents are billed in the event of late pick-up.

Full day campers have a lunch break between 12 and 1 pm each day. Campers are supervised by the Camp Director and C.I.T.'s during this time.

There are no half day camps on Fridays. All campers for that week are invited to join us for a day at the lake in one of our beautiful Maryland State Parks.
How do we get to camp?

We are close! Just 10 minutes from Germantown and Poolesville, 20 minutes from Darnestown and Gaithersburg, and 25 minutes from Frederick. To reach the camp from I-270, take exit 22 (Rt. 109) toward Barnesville. From the interstate, proceed 5 miles to the first stop sign at Barnesville Road. Turn left on Barnesville Road. Drive 1.1 miles and turn right on Peach Tree Road. The camp is on the right, at the corner of Barnesville and Peach Tree Roads. For a map, click here for our directions page.

What do I send with my camper?

Daily camp procedures and a list of necessary gear and suggested clothing for each program will be sent home on the first day of camp. This information is also available in the parent handbook. Specific program schedules will be available on the first day of camp. Please put your program schedule somewhere where you can refer to it on a daily basis. Campers who do not bring required items to camp (swim suits, fishing poles, bike helmets, sleeping bags, etc.) might not be able to participate in our activities.

What is Canteen?
Canteen is an afternoon opportunity for campers to buy healthy snacks and special treats. Items are priced from $.25 to $1.00.
When do we wear our camp shirts?
For safety reasons all campers are required to wear the camp shirt for all field trips and special events. Each camper receives a camp shirt the first day of camp. Additional items may be purchased at the camp office at anytime.
What do we bring for lunch?
Campers eat a snack and lunch at camp each day. Please provide a non-perishable lunch and beverage (lunches are not refrigerated). Please label with your campers name.
Will you apply sunscreen?
By law, counselors are not allowed to apply lotion sunscreen to the campers. Please apply sunscreen prior to the beginning of the camp day. We can apply spray-on or aerosol.
