Join our Summer Camp Staff    

Are you interested in fun summer work? Help Barnesville create exciting programs by becoming part of our summer staff! We have a variety of positions available to fit your interests and schedule. Please review the following positions and contact Lynda Forman, Camp Director, to apply.

Positions Available    

Group Leader:

The Group Leader is the leader of a specific thematic camp. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Have skills and experience in working with children. One should have the ability to direct, and organize a cohesive summer camp program.
  • All Planning of the program in advance, daily scheduling of activities and field trips, as well as supply requisitions, bus preparation, shall be submitted to the camp director in a timely manner adhering to all dead lines.
  • Communication in regards to daily activities, special events, and other pertinent information through newsletters and information boards shall be communicated to the Camp Director as well as other staff, campers, and especially parents.
  • Responsibilities will extend to other camp activities such as all camp special events; camp set up and break down, canteen, pool duties, and any other events or daily operations that require assistance.
  • Supervise and guide those members of the staff working with him/her on the program, including Counselors, Assistant Counselors, and CIT’s, and keeping them aware of the expectations, and responsibilities to the campers, camp and mission.
  • Communicate with all parties in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Must be willing to bring Joy, Support, and Excellence to others.
  • Be a positive role model to all.

Counselor:

The Counselor will work directly with the Group Leader and will serve as Group Leader in the absence of that person. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Help Group Leader to execute planning, activities, special events and field trips related directly to their assigned camp.
  • In the absence of the Group Leader will execute the daily activities of their assigned camp.
  • Responsibilities will extend to other camp activities such as all camp special events; camp set up and break down, canteen, pool duties, and any other events or daily operations that require assistance.
  • Help to supervise and guide those members of the staff working with him/her on the program, including Assistant Counselors and CIT’s, and keeping them aware of the expectations, and responsibilities to the campers, camp and mission.
  • Communicate with all parties in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Must be willing to bring Joy, Support, and Excellence to others.
  • Be a positive role model to all.

Assistant Counselor:

The Assistant counselor will work directly with the Group Leader and Counselor. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Help to execute planning, activities, special events and field trips related directly to their assigned camp.
  • Responsibilities will extend to other camp activities such as all camp special events, camp set up and break down, canteen, pool duties, and any other events or daily operations that require assistance.
  • Work with and guide CIT’s and campers, and keep them aware of the expectations, and responsibilities to each other, camp and our mission.
  • Communicate with all parties in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Must be willing to bring Joy, Support, and Excellence to others.
  • Be a positive role model to all.

CIT: Counselor in Training

A CIT assists the Group Leaders and Counselors as necessary with the daily activities of their assigned camp. The CIT program is to help mold interested students into potential Day Camp Counselors. CIT’s must have the following qualifications:

  • Must be 14 years of age
  • Must have a written letter of approval to work from their parents or legal guardian
  • Must be enthusiastic and have a interest in working with children
  • Must be willing to bring Joy, Support, and Excellence to others.
  • Be a positive role model to all.
