Wow! The first month of school really flew…and BOO! Its October already!

Wow! We are Proud of Your Children!
We are so pleased with the adjustment that all of our Pre-Kindergarten students are making to our program. They are doing a great job following our routines and forming friendships!

Time for Show & Tell!
Each week we will focus on a different letter. Please help your child find an item that begins with the letter of the week, to be placed in the Magic Letter Box and shared on Friday.
  • Week 1 - L
  • Week 2 - F
  • Week 3 - E
  • Week 4 - H
October Learning Topics
October is going to be a very busy month! This month we will be discussing the following topics:
  • Fire Saftey
  • Fall - acorns, leaves, leaf change, squirrels
  • Pumpkins - inside and out, pumpkin muffins, seed tasting, seed counting
  • Halloween - stories, costumes, party, parade
  • Alphabet letters - L, F, E, and H
  • Nocturnal Animals/Night Creatures - owls, bats, spiders

Along with fire safety lessons we hope to have a visit from the Beallsville Fire Department, so that the children have the opportunity to see a fire truck, and see a firefighter dressed in their gear.

We will be introducing, completing handwriting crafts and activities, and instructing students in how to write and form letters using the D’Nealian Handwriting method, which is the handwriting program that is used schoolwide.

The month will end with fun, not scary Halloween Activities!

Upcoming Events
Oct. 19: Trip to Butler's Orchard Pumpkin Patch - Permission slip and info will come home soon,
Oct. 28: Halloween Party and Parade. Your child may come in costume. You may join us as well. More info to follow.
Music
Nancy Taylor, Music Teacher
The Pre-Kindergarten students have enjoyed playing singing games together. They have been singing from books like
Over In the Meadow (Langstaff) and Frog Went A-Courtin' (Langstaff), where they can follow the words on a page, and also see illustrations of what they are singing about. They have sung songs incorporating their own names, songs about animals, and about colors. And they do a great job with action songs!
