Barnesville Basement

The Barnesville Basement is one short week away! We are looking forward to a successful sale, and many of you have volunteered for set-up and clean-up. However, we do not yet have adequate volunteers for the actual sale. Volunteers are urgently needed for Saturday from 12-4, and Sunday from 10-12, and 12-3. Please immediately email your availability to janinebhuber@hotmail.com if you can help. Thank You!

Kindergarten and 4th Grade Service Project

Kindergarten and 4th Grade will be collecting items listed below to be donated to the Frederick Officers Wives Club (Jeri Hough/member), who are packing gift boxes for the soldiers to hand out as goodwill gestures and also items they might enjoy themselves. The due date for these items is before October 30. In the first week of November the club will be mailing the items overseas. Any family in the school is welcome to participate and can deliver their items to Mrs. Dyke’s class before October 30. Messages and cards will be sent from our buddy classes as they meet this month. Melanie Choukas-Bradley Tonight!
threebooks.jpg

Come one, come all! Tonight we host our annual Klingenstein Lecture Series event. Local author and former Barnesville parent Melanie Choukas-Bradley will be speaking tonight at 7:00 in our Media Center. Melanie will be discussing the natural history and geology of the Sugarloaf region as well as the flora of Washington. There will be a slide presentation and book signing. This event is free and open to the public. Our students had a wonderful time learning from her yesterday – now it’s your turn!

Referral Program

Over the summer, we kicked off our first Referral Campaign.  3 new families benefited from the program and so we're starting another campaign this year!  Next week, you'll receive new referral cards to hand out to friends and families that you know.  If an applicant uses the card, they will receive an application fee waiver and the person listed on the card will qualify to receive up to $1,000!!!  Start thinking of all families that would be a great addition to the Barnesville Community!

Grandparents Day

The Grandparents Day Chairs are still looking for volunteers!  If you are interested in helping out, please contact Lynn Brown (lynnday01@aol.com) or Frances Parsons (fayparsons@aol.com).

ALS Fundraiser

A sad bit of news…former Barnesville teacher Beth Silva’s mother-in-law has recently been diagnosed with ALS. As you may know, Beth is actively involved with the Hydro-Sonic Tiburones swim club, and this group is hosting an upcoming swim event to raise money for ALS research. More information can be found at the Hydro-Sonic Tiburones website, www.swimtibu.com.
