Supporting Haiti     MUFFIN SALE Please help support the relief effort for the people affected by the earthquakes in Haiti. Third and Sixth Grades are sponsoring a  "Muffins and Milk" sale tomorrow, January 22nd before school Donation: $1.00 ** If school is cancelled, the Muffin Sale will be Tues., Jan. 26th HELP IS ON THE WAY! COMING SOON A READ-A-THON TO AID HAITI Barnesville wants to help the people of Haiti! This disaster has touched the lives of our students and we want them to know that they can, in a very real way, help alleviate the suffering of the victims of this disaster. To this end we are planning a school wide response of our own! THE BARNEVILLE READ-A-THON TO BENEFIT THE VICTIMS OF THE EARTHQUAKE! Pre-K to 8, staff and students, parents and family, there’s a way for everyone to join in our effort! Keep your eyes and ears open for details about this event that will allow every member of the Barnesville community to contribute, whether through time, money, or encouragement! The money we raise will go to the American Red Cross, which is part of the International Red Cross response to this disaster. Massive relief assistance is being provided in the form of personnel and materials in critical needs areas such as: • distribution of relief supplies such as food, clothing, shelter, and medical supplies • communications (translators, family reunification, and logistical coordination), • search and rescue The Haitian Disaster response has now become its single largest deployment of the global Red Cross network for one affected country in history! The needs are great and our help is needed! Students will be bringing home information packets in the near future.       Inclimate Weather Make-up Days     Should school be delayed or closed tomorrow, January 22nd, please note the following makeup dates: 3rd-4th Grade Coffee With the Head: Wed., Jan. 27th Middle School Trip to Mount Vernon: TBD-informaton will follow Dress Code Poll     Hello Parents and Faculty!  Thanks for all of feedback you've given to the Dress Code Task Force.  Next week, we'll be polling parents and faculty for one more piece of data.  Please keep a watch out for an email coming from Nicole Campbell next week!      Show off your child’s ARTWORK while helping the school! For just $25, we'll print a full page, black & white copy of your child's artwork in the Family Fun Night catalog! A form was sent home in folders, but if you need a new one, please email jankhyland@aol.com. Please send in hard copies of art on 8 ½ “ x 11” paper (vertical orientation) with a ½” border on all sides. Please make sure your child’s name appears on the artwork! The art can be anything your child would like, but it might be fun to make it about Barnesville or the “Barnesville Barn” theme. The art will only appear in black and white, so encourage the kids to use dark markers or pen. Deadline for artwork ads is February 1! Raffle Donations Needed by February 1! We're getting in all kinds of great prizes for the Family Fun Night Raffle March 5 (and wonderful items for the auction in May too). Some new items include: • "Girls Gone Justice" -- Everything a girl could want from her favorite store! A large piece of Justice luggage filled with an abundance of riches, including a new winter coat, various articles of clothing, accessories, jewelry and more! • “Its All About Sports” -- A duffle bag stuffed full of balls and equipment every jock can use! • Build A Bear -- This adorable bear comes with a gift card so you can go to the store and choose the perfect outfit for him/her. Not sure what to donate? We could use more electronic items, such as ipods and ITunes gift cards, DSi and games, Wii games and accessories. You can bring items to Nicole Campbell's office and we'll package it all together. Don't forget to fill out a donation form -- you can do it online!   Area Businesses are Making Generous Donations! We want to thank the team of volunteers who is helping to call businesses we mailed seeking donations for the Denim & Diamond Raffle and Auction. Thanks go out to Susan Tataei, Kristen Waksberg, Dawn WIlbur, Michelle Pappas, Rakhi Handa, Lynne Rassmussen and Beth Myers for their extra effort that is helping to bring in donations and ads from old and new supporters alike.
