The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow with near-blizzard conditions, beginning at 10 AM on Friday Feb. 5th. They have advised that storm total accumulations in this area will reach 16-24 inches. In light of this announcement, The Barnesville School will take the following steps:
1. All after school activities for Friday, Feb. 5th are cancelled. There will be no after school care, clubs, or athletic practices tomorrow afternoon.
2. Currently we plan to open for regular school hours tomorrow. However, it is likely that we will need to close early. All parents should anticipate the real possibility of an early dismissal and make plans now for such a contingency. In the event of an early dismissal, we will contact you via our phone blast system and RenWeb as soon as the need is confirmed.
3. The Middle School ski trip has been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 11th, following the same plans and structure. Though we would like to have avoided moving this activity, we have already received cancellations both from our charter bus service and from a number of parent chaperones, thus making it logistically challenging to transport 65 students, plus chaperones and equipment. Any parents with questions about chaperoning for Thursday should contact Middle School Director Vickie Roos.
4. The 7th & 8th Grade Coffee with the Head will stay as scheduled for tomorrow morning between 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM.
5. We will not be rescheduling a daytime performance of the Middle School Play due to scheduling conflicts and difficulties. We are sorry not to be able to reschedule the event, and are pleased that all the actors' parents could enjoy the show this past Friday night.
6. Information regarding the SSAT test, to be held at Barnesville on Saturday, Feb. 6th, will be sent out separately from Communications and Marketing Director Nicole Campbell.
