Hello Families!
It seems like just yesterday that it was September and the beginning of school. The development of the children from then to now is amazing. Though all the children develop at their own rate, each child has shown immense progress in all areas. Our hands-on experiences and learning opportunities have really paid off and we feel most comfortable about the success of your child as they move into Kindergarten in the fall.
Our Stars of the Week this month are Allana, Shannon and last but certainly not least, Tommy. It has been a very fun program for me to watch as the kids were given the opportunity to take part in activities that they may have never done before or don’t get to do often. Thank you all for participating and making your child’s week a special one.
Since we have just about finished the alphabet, our main focus as we look towards May and June will be to look at alphabetical order and upper/lowercase matching. We will also review how to write all the letters on dry erase boards as well as play dough!
In math, we will continue to talk about telling time to the hour and look at 1 whole, 1 half and 1 quarter. We will also practice writing out numbers 1-10. We’ll review patterns, number recognition and will continue to count, count, and count!
In science, we will be learning about seeds and planting, zoo animals, and summer weather. We’ll have lots of fun hands-on experiments to participate in, games to play and stories to read centering on the above topics!
All the children are very excited about celebrating their moms and dads in our upcoming activities. Our Mother’s Day celebration is on Friday, May 7th starting at 8:00am in the classroom. Our Papa’s Picnic will be on Thursday, June 2nd at 6pm on the Prek playground.
Debbie and I couldn't be prouder of your children. Each one learned not only new academic information, but new ways to talk to each other when they were upset, or how to enter a game when a friend was already there playing. They learned to have respect for each other and that the Golden Rule of “do unto others that you would have them do unto you”, really does work! We have only a few weeks left and I am looking forward to each and every day!
Here are a few upcoming dates to keep in mind:
May 6th – May Day Celebration, 10:30am
May 9th – Mother’s Day Celebration, 8:00am
