EC in December

Happy December! It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and it will be a whirlwind! Thanksgiving kicked off the holiday season and it will be a busy month for us in Early Childhood! This month we will be working on the letters H & I and continuing our focus on holidays and family traditions. Please let us know which holidays you celebrate at your home and if there are any family traditions you would like to share with the class.

If you have been out of the house, you know that the hustle and bustle of the season has begun, and it’s no different at school. It is a Barnesville tradition to provide our students with a holiday gift shop so that they may do some of their own holiday shopping. Our parent elves have been busy shopping and setting up a gift shop just for the students. Our class will have an opportunity to go through and shop with our 8th grade buddies sometime in December. More details about the holiday shop will be coming home with your child.

Barnesville participates in a holiday adopt-a-family program. We team up with the Dwelling Place to find less fortunate families who are in need of some holiday cheer. Each grade is assigned a family and given a list of some specific items that they are in need of. Students are invited to contribute an item from the list, or select something on their own that the family might need or enjoy. Specific information about our families and what they are in need of will be coming home soon.We are putting our pumpkins away and making room for friendly snowmen! This is the next song that you may hear your little one singing at home, sung to I’m a little tea pot. I'm a Friendly Snowman I'm a friendly snowman big and fat Here is my tummy and here is my hat I'm a happy fellow, here's my nose I'm all snow from my head to my toes I have two bright eyes so I can see All the snow falling down on me When the weather's cold I'm strong and tall But when it's warm I get very small

This month will move quickly! Please check your child’s tote bag and communication folder each day as there will be a lot of information coming home over the next few weeks. We hope that you all have a wonderful month and are able to enjoy the spirit of the holidays!!
