Why I teach? Inspiration, as defined by Webster’s Dictionary means, “influenced by example, bring about or stir to action.” Often the expectation is for the teacher to inspire his or her students. However, I must share that I have found that it is “me” that is frequently inspired by my students! Yes, the students are my guide. I have learned so much from them and the PEEPS project is a true example of students engaged in the learning process. What did I see? Excitement, connections to other subject areas and brilliant ideas! What did I hear? Students sharing ideas and communicating their thoughts about how to execute their ideas. What did I feel? Touched by the energy, creativity and final product. Every diorama has something unique to offer. For those who did not have a chance to stop by to see the dioramas, please enjoy the attached power point of all the wonderful projects!
Congratulations to all 7th and 8th grade students who created “PEEPS” dioramas. Almost every diorama has been entered into the Washington Post Peeps Contest with the winners announced Sunday, April 17th! In addition to receiving a grade for Language Arts, we have an internal contest. Barnesville had 22 judges this year. Based on their votes here are the winners:
