Welcome from the Admissions Director

Dear Parents,

We are so pleased that you are considering a Barnesville education for your child! As you read the enclosed materials and come to know us further through conversations, school tours, and visits, you will discover the unique education your child will experience as a member of The Barnesville School.

A Barnesville education is based on a mission of providing a joyful, supportive learning environment for the development of excellence in each student. We are the only private school located in the Agricultural Reserve of Montgomery County. Surrounded by acres of woods and lush farmland, Barnesville School provides an educational experience found nowhere else in Montgomery County.

We offer small class sizes which create a safe forum in which students feel free to take more risks; to query and investigate; to gain confidence while discussing and expressing what they have learned; and to rebound more easily from disappointments and feel good about their successes. One young graduate stated during the 2008 closing exercises that his ten years at Barnesville taught him “learning isn’t just about memorizing the periodic table…[Barnesville] has sparked my interest within all fields of achievement, from being a more creative thinker to learning to apply logic to everyday situations.”

Our diverse and caring faculty exemplifies our mission. They are skilled and experienced educators. Forty-six percent hold master’s degrees and they average 17 years of teaching experience. Barnesville assists our faculty in expanding their knowledge base through continuous professional development opportunities allowing them to serve more fully as role models of lifelong learning.

All the written materials in the world cannot replace the experience of seeing our mission in action. I invite you to visit us and see firsthand what I have learned by working at The Barnesville School-our students are the school and they are the embodiment of our mission. More importantly, your child will see this as well! As a member of the student body, your daughter or son will delight in coming to our school each day and be part of what only a Barnesville student experiences… joy, support and excellence.

I look forward to meeting you and your family!

Warmly,
