Today in art class, our Kindergarteners learned about the works of the American painter Wayne Thiebaud as part of their unit on the letter "T". Students created lollipops, cupcakes, and birthday cakes. As one student shouted proudly, "I'm an artist, you know!" Indeed he is, as are they all.

Barnesville's students raised over $3,500 to support the Frederick Rescue Mission and the Dwelling Place, as part of our annual Help the Homeless Walkathon. Many thanks to all our students and families who support this important community service event!

Congratulations to our victorious Boys' Soccer Team on their 7th straight MJAC banner! The boys played an outstanding game against The Banner School last Thursday, emerging victorious with a 5-1 score and an undefeated season. And best wishes to our cross county team members in their final race this week! P.S. Thanks to our parents for supplying pictures to add to this slideshow.

Our sixth graders practiced their Spanish pronunciation and comprehension in preparation for their upcoming test. As part of their review, they passed the globe in a speed round review of dates, months, numbers, and holidays. My Spanish is a little less rusty, now that I remember how to say my birthday en Espanol.

We had a wonderful turnout for the 20th annual
Poolesville Day celebration this weekend. Barnesville was well
represented at the parade, and many of our alumni came to visit
Barnesville's booth. Thanks to all who helped support this event, and
thanks to Chris Marett for sharing some of his photos with me! Brice
Halbrook, proud parent of a Barnesville alumni, co-chaired Poolesville
Day once again, and his leadership is greatly appreciated.

Today marks Kindergarten's first full day at
Barnesville - and also our first K-2nd grade afternoon recess together!
All sorts of imaginative play was taking place at recess. Our
Kindergarteners especially enjoyed the newly moved playground, now that
it sits right next to the swings and the shady pine trees.

Our three-year-olds were hunting for buttons this morning! Yesterday they heard the story of Corduroy,
so early today they went looking for buttons throughout the building.
They found buttons of all different shapes and colors in Mr. Huber's
office, Mrs. Johnson's office, and even the Library!
