A Personal Thanksgiving List
thank_you.jpg

November 15, 2007

Thank you.

Although we’re only 2 ½ months into the school year, I’ve already had many, many occasions to pass along my thanks to members of this wonderful community. My reasons for giving thanks have been wide and varied - sometimes it’s for the smallest but most meaningful expression of kindness, sometimes it’s for a grand gesture that astounds me in its breadth. So, as Thanksgiving approaches next week, I thought it most appropriate to share my gratitude.

I give my most sincere thanks to…
… the children, for your steadfast joy and youthful enthusiasm. Your smiles, from our littlest students to our soon-to-be graduates, never fail to brighten even the most overcast day.
…the faculty, staff, and administration, for your collaborative spirit and professionalism. As Roland Barth once wrote, the relationships of the teachers and administrators directly affect our students’ accomplishments. This positive outlook is evident daily at Barnesville.
…the parents, for your support and honesty. The school has experienced many changes in the past year, and you have been incredibly open to them. In this grand and complex relationship we call ‘school’, it is the partnership between parents and teachers that matters most for our children.
…the donors, for your overwhelming generosity. Your demonstration of philanthropy this year was truly remarkable. Collectively, more was accomplished in less time than ever before in the history of Barnesville. Our students – your children – are the direct beneficiaries of your selfless contributions.
…the trustees, for your wisdom and vision. You are the true stewards of the school, tending to its future and ensuring that Barnesville enjoys a long, successful life. Your countless hours of devoted governance will benefit us for years to come
…the volunteers, for your gift of time and talent. Put simply, we cannot accomplish what we do without you. Your touch is seen everywhere, from the athletic field to the library, from the website to the garden beds. Your presence enriches us daily.
…my family, for your steadfast love. So many new things have come our way – a new job in a new state, a new house, a new baby boy – and through it all, we remain happy and whole.

Thank you, one and all. Have a joyous Thanksgiving!
