Giving

“To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a little better… to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived - this is the meaning of success.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

So much of what our school enjoys today was received as charitable gifts from families, friends, former parents, alumni, grandparents, and other members of the Barnesville community. We hope that you will take a few minutes to review your charitable intent and consider including the Barnesville School in your plans.

There are a multitude of tax-deductible gift opportunities available including:

Cash/Check

Gifts of cash are the most popular type of gift to the school. Should you wish to make a gift of cash, please make your check payable to Barnesville School.

Credit Cards

Barnesville School accepts gifts through VISA, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.

Appreciated Securities

A gift of appreciated, publicly traded securities provide the donor with two significant advantages. First, you avoid paying capital gains on the increased value of the stock gifted. Second, you receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock when the gift is made. To make a stock transfer, contact the School's brokerage firm:

Collins Investment Group of Wells Fargo Advisors
Attn: Robert J. Collins
One Democracy Center
6901 Rockledge Dr., Ste 730
Bethesda, MD 20817
Ph. 301-915-9637

So we may appropriately thank and receipt you for your generous contribution, please inform the Barnesville School's Advancement Office regarding your stock transfer: 301-972-0341 ext 233.

Gifts In Kind

We welcome contributions of computers, office furniture, classroom supplies, landscape materials, athletic equipment and many other items related to our educational program. Please contact the Advancement Office for further information: 301-972-0341 ext 233.

Real Estate

A gift of real estate may be an attractive way to make a substantial commitment to Barnesville School and realize tax benefits at the same time. Your residence, vacation home, farm, acreage, or vacant lot may have appreciated in value through the years so that its sale would mean a sizeable capital gains tax. By making a gift of this property instead, you would avoid or significantly reduce the amount of capital gains you otherwise would have to pay. At the same time, you would receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the property.

Memorial and Honorary Gifts

We welcome donations made in honor of or in memory of your family member or loved one. Gifts are recognized in the Annual Report of Gifts, and the family or individual(s) are informed of the gift made in their honor.
