To help break in its new Makerspace, Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences participated in the Global Cardboard Challenge, building anything they could dream up from cardboard, recycled materials, and their imagination.

October's Middle School Collaborative Day combined hiking, art, and service on nearby Sugarloaf Mountain. As students hiked up Sugarloaf, they created earth art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy. At the top of the mountain, students worked in their advisory groups to create a collaborative panoramic sketch.

Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences recently welcomed Jo Elizabeth Butler, former Deputy Director at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, to speak with Middle School students about a project that is raising funds for schools in Ethiopia. Barnesville students will be making clay pendants in art class that students in Ethiopia will incorporate into jewelry. Ms. Butler will then help the children in Ethiopia, as they make and sell this jewelry in order to pay for a much-needed source of clean water at their school.
