Barnesville Basement

“You are what you do, not what you say you'll do.” – C.G. Jung

Recycling in Action!

Every year, we host a huge charitable event that involves our community at many different levels. Barnesville Basement is a giant indoor yard sale held in our gymnasium each October. Gently used items—from clothing to housewares to electronics to furniture—are donated by members of the Barnesville School community and sold at bargain prices. The sale runs for two days and is open to the public.

Seventh and eighth grade students earn community service hours helping unload donated items from cars, sorting and organizing items by category, and pricing the goods. Once the sale begins, students are on hand to help patrons carry their purchased items to their cars. Proceeds from the Barnesville Basement benefit the students and faculty, and items not sold are donated to local charities. We take great pride in donating to charities such as Frederick Rescue Mission, "Hands of Love," and the Poolesville Library Book Drive, among others.

The Power of Community

Like most independent schools, Barnesville School sets tuition below the cost of educating each student, making a Barnesville education affordable to more families. With the Power of Community, The Barnesville School Fund helps bridge the gap between tuition and actual costs. Tax-deductible contributions from our community support the joyful and nurturing learning environment our faculty provides each and every day. Read more...
