Soccer - Girls
Head Coach: Doug Hart
After competing for four years at the Division III level while at The College of Wooster (soccer and tennis), I hung up the cleats and began my coaching and teaching career at the Hyde School in Bath, Maine. There, I was head coach for both the varsity boys soccer and tennis teams, and I was an assistant for the varsity boys basketball and lacrosse teams. My Australian Shepherd and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, as Hyde successfully competed against schools in New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine. I grew to appreciate the many camping, hiking, and whitewater opportunities available as well.
I continued to coach boys and girls soccer at the high school level in North Carolina, and our teams were loaded with amazing players. The girls soccer team won the State 1A championship in 1992 after a second place finish in 1991. I also coached the boys soccer team to two final four appearances, and I directed three soccer camps and two tennis camps during the summer breaks.
After coaching club soccer while in the Boston area, I continued to coach high school and middle school soccer and middle school girls basketball while at The Flint Hill School in Oakton, Virginia before joining the staff at Barnesville in 1995. Here, I have coached boys and girls soccer, basketball, and lacrosse throughout my many years with the school. After too many knee and hip surgeries, I still continue to enjoy the energy and the playfulness of our middle school athletes while limiting my own participation to regular tennis matches on Saturday mornings, ping pong, and occasional rounds of bogey (or worse) golf.
