Ways of Giving

So much of what our school enjoys today was received as charitable gifts from the school's families, friends,  former parents, alumni, grandparents and others members of the Barnesville community. We hope that you will take a few minutes to review your charitable intent and consider including The Barnesville School in your plans.

Examples of tax-deductible gift opportunities are:

Cash:

Gifts of cash are certainly the easiest and most popular. Make sure that your check is payable to The Barnesville School.

Credit Cards:

The Barnesville School accepts gifts by way of VISA, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.

Appreciated Securities:

A gift of appreciated, publicly traded securities provide the donor with two significant advantages. First, you avoid paying capital gains on the increased value of the stock gifted. Second you receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock when the gift is made.  To make a stock transfer contact the school's brokerage firm:

So we appropriately thank and receipt you for your generous contribution, please inform The Barnesville School's Advancement Office regarding your stock transfer: 301-972-0341

Gifts In Kind:

We welcome contributions of computers, office furniture, classroom supplies, landscape materials, athletic equipment and many other items related to our educational program. Please contact the Advancement Office for further information: 301-972-0341

Real Estate:

A gift of real estate may be an attractive way to make a substantial commitment to The Barnesville School and realize tax benefits at the same time. Your residence, vacation home, farm, acreage, or vacant lot may have so appreciated in value through the years that its sale would mean a sizeable capital gains tax. By making a gift of this property, instead, you would avoid or significantly reduce the amount of capital gains you otherwise would have to pay. At the same time, you would receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the property.

Memorial and Honorary Gifts:

We welcome donation(s) made in honor of or in memory of your family member or loved one. Gifts will be recognized in the Annual Report of Gifts, and the family or individual(s) will be informed of the gift made in their honor.
