Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences Head of School Susanne Johnson announced that the School earned re-certification as a Maryland Green School by The Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE). To receive this distinction, Barnesville demonstrated achievement in three areas: curriculum and instruction, community partnerships, and best management practices.

Mrs. Johnson thanked faculty for their role: "I am excited to share that we have achieved our re-certification as a Maryland Green School! Thank you to everyone for their hard work documenting our initiatives. A special thank you to Tara Barnhart for her leadership as our Arts & Sciences Coordinator."

A MAEOE press release explained that our school has demonstrated and documented a continuous effort to integrate sustainable environmental management practices, environmental education curriculum, professional development opportunities, and community engagement into our daily operations. This award signifies that our school has made a commitment to developing stewards of the earth and reducing the environmental impact of our school.
