Third grade's annual Valentine's Tea is a time-honored Barnesville signature event. This year the tradition continued in a virtual format.
Typically, the Valentine's Tea is a celebration event that occurs in conjunction with a service project. In previous years, students baked and delivered homemade muffins to local Barnesville seniors. In an effort to keep everyone safe this year, the baked goods deliveries were temporarily put on hold. Not to worry, Mrs. Gekas has other ideas brewing with her students, including a floral delivery in the Spring!
Despite having to put the service project on hold, Mrs. Gekas and her students were still able to host the Signature Valentine's Tea. Mrs. Gekas supplied each student with a "Valentine's Tea in a Box," and parents jumped in to help purchase Tea Party treats! Students dressed up and celebrated together via Google Meets. During the Tea, students demonstrated proper etiquette, enjoyed an elegant event, and played games.
Many thanks to the students, parents, and Mrs. Gekas for keeping this Barnesville tradition alive!
