Barnesville’s traditional May Day Celebration took place outside on a beautiful, sunny morning. The day was complete with song, dance, and the ceremonial weaving of ribbons around the May Pole, where each child placed a "Branch of May" to mark spring's renewal.
Student tumblers led a processional of their fellow Lower School children singing Unite and Unite at this treasured annual event featuring English Folk Music, Ribbon Dances, Chimney Sweeps, a Hobby Horse, Morris Dancing, and Barnesville’s own Muffin Man.
The celebration closed with the entire Lower School singing the May Day Carol. May Day is a Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences Signature Curriculum Event.
