At Barnesville’s Fall Sports Banquet, Athletic Director Alex Murray congratulated Middle School athletes for their accomplishments this season.
Girls Soccer: The girls soccer team had another very successful year. They finished the regular season undefeated and placed third in the Norwood soccer tournament. Led by the eighth graders, every player displayed good teamwork and excellent sportsmanship.
Boys Soccer: The boys improved throughout the soccer season, which led to some big victories late in the season. The boys also placed third in the Norwood tournament, winning a nail-biter.
Girls Volleyball: In this inaugural season of volleyball at Barnesville, only one of the girls had ever played the sport competitively. They stepped out of their comfort zone, improved their skills, and enjoyed success throughout the season.
Cross Country: The cross country team had another very successful year. Led by strong and experienced runners, the team had some great finishes in every meet. ALl of the runners put in a lot of hard work, making this season one of the most successful in years.
Mr. Murray said, “It was conveyed by referees and other coaches that The Barnesville School’s athletic teams always demonstrated great effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship, no matter what the final score of the game was. Go, Barnesville Bears!”
The Barnesville School fields nine competitive sports teams at the Middle School level. Basketball is the focus of the winter sports season with the first games scheduled to be played at home December 4.
