Barnesville students wrote thank you notes to Kingsbury's Orchard for growing the fruit enjoyed throughout the fall on Apple Wednesdays.
One note read: "Thank you for the variety of delicious, juicy apples! We love Apple Wednesdays! We can't wait for next apple season!"
Barnesville's Apple Wednesdays were started by former Head of School John Huber more than ten years ago. With support from the Barnesville Parent Connection, the School purchases apples from Kingsbury’s, a 100-year-old orchard in nearby Dickerson, Maryland. Each Wednesday in September through November, students enjoy apples as a healthy, local snack, and they learn about the importance of locally-sourced food and composting.
