After School Activities Fall 2019
Barnesville School offers students opportunities to extend their interests beyond the traditional curriculum with our unique after school programs.
Fall 2019 offerings include STEM FUNdamentals with LEGO (grades K-3) on Mondays, Birding (grades 3-8) on Tuesdays, Young Artists Studio (grades k-2) on Wednesdays, and Makerspace (grades 3-6) on Thursdays.
The first activity starts September 17, so please REGISTER by September 12 to secure your space (first-come-first serve until classes fill).
STEM FUNdamentals with LEGO® (grades K-3) - $190
Mondays September 23, 2019 – December 9, 2019 (3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.)
10 meetings (No class: 9/30, 12/2)
Master your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as: Boats, Snowmobiles, and Battletracks! Design and build as never before and explore your craziest ideas.
Barnesville Birding & Biodiversity & Environment (grades 3-8) - FREE w/ $75 supply fee
Tuesdays* September 17 – November 19 (3 p.m. – 4 p.m.)
Students will EXPLORE the great outdoors by learning about the birds & biodiversity on our beautiful agricultural reserve, They will also participate in environmentally-focused projects that directly benefit our school. Topics will include: photography, engaging in citizen science, identifying flora & fauna on campus, and spending quality, structured time immersed in nature. Instruction will be outdoors, so please dress appropriately. If weather conditions are poor, an alternative activity will take place. No experience necessary. This program is free, but a required $75 supplies fee is due before the first day. *No make-up classes for scheduled days off, please consult the school calendar. *Make-up days will be held Tuesdays after the last week. Young Artists Studio (grades k-2) - $200
Wednesdays* September 18 – November 20 (3 p.m. – 4 p.m.)
Students experiment with a variety of art media including drawing, painting, sculpture, and clay. Open ended prompts allow each student to pursue topics of personal interest with the end goal of building creativity and confidence. $200. *No make-up classes for scheduled days off, please consult the school calendar. Makerspace Challenge! (grades 3-6) - $200
Thursdays* September 19 – November 21 (3 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.)
Working in teams or independently, students will use the skills of math, science, engineering and art as they compete to win a new challenge every 1-3 weeks. Examples of challenges include spaghetti skyscraper, cardboard creatures, and upcycled robot. At the end of each challenge students will document their creations with self-produced videos. $200. *No make-up classes for scheduled days off, please consult the school calendar. Register Here.
