Second grade worked with local group, Brickyard Educational Farms, to create a garden. The teacher from Brickyard spoke about the parts of a plant, and which parts are edible. The students then planted garlic and covered their planting with hay to keep it warm for the winter. All of the seeds that were left behind from growing last year was collected. The garden beds were then cleaned out, weeded and sowed the beds with cover crop, to add more nutrients to the soil. Lastly, the beds were covered with hay to protect the soil from the winter.
