At Barnesville we view volunteering not as work, but as a great way to connect with the School community. Volunteering is a wonderful way to get to know parents and students at every grade level, coming together to support the School we all love.
Following is a sample of volunteer opportunities at Barnesville:
Library Volunteer – Library volunteers work during Lower School library class time to help children find, select and checkout books. They also re-shelve books and assist with the annual inventory.
Homecoming – In addition to the serving popcorn and water and monitoring the bonfire and s'mores, there are needs to setting up and clean up committees.
Grandparents’ & Grandfriends' Day – This cherished tradition, held the Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving, relies on volunteers to plan and serve a special breakfast and to work in the Library where Grandparents can purchase and dedicate books in students’ names.
Holiday Shoppe – Volunteers build a special shop each year where kids can select and purchase inexpensive but oh so special gifts for family and friends.
Family Fun Night – This is a fun evening for the whole family. Volunteers plan the event and run a variety of games and activities the night of.
School Picture Days – Volunteers encourage a smile on every child's face on school portrait days.
Faculty/Staff Appreciation – Families contribute to the monthly luncheons and occasional breakfasts.
Admissions and Fundraising Events
Admissions Volunteers – Volunteers are needed to help as Open House tour guides and at community events.
Barnesville Basement – This is a yearly indoor yard sale held in late October and relies on lots of donations and volunteers!
Gala & Auction – Volunteers serve on a steering committee to brainstorm ideas, reach out to local businesses for donations, and plan and prepare for the School’s primary fundraising event.
Office Help – Occasionally, the administrative offices of Barnesville need an extra hand.
