Faculty & Staff Directory
Hola! My name is Maria Consuelo Campos Arizabalo, but my students call me Señora Campos. I have been working at Barnesville for four years, teaching Spanish from Early Childhood through 3rd grade in the Lower School. I am from Chile, a country in South America, specifically from Santiago, the capital. I studied in Blas Cañas University in Santiago, Chile. I graduated with a B.A. in Special Education with a specialization in language disabilities. I worked in Chile for four years in schools for special needs children. My husband and I arrived in the United States in 1991, stayed for four years, and then returned to Chile because I was expecting my first child. I stayed in Chile for four years and then returned to the United States again. I have two children. My son studies at the University of Maryland and my daughter is in 6th grade.
One of my passions is to teach Spanish. I love to teach Spanish because it is a daily connection that I get to enjoy and which links me with my roots. To teach my language, show my culture and learn about other countries that speak Spanish is a gift for me. I feel very proud to see how my students can grow to understand a language that is not their first language. Seeing them answer simple questions, sing a song or play games is very fulfilling. Additionally, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and love to travel. iAdiós!
