Barnesville's annual back-to-school Homecoming event was all the more festive this year in honor of the school's 50th anniversary.
The Barnesville Parent Connection (BPC) along with the student government hosted an afternoon pep rally in the gym with scooter races, a game of "knockout" basketball, cheers, and dances. A giant golden "50" was on stage, and hundreds of golden noisemakers revved up students before after school sports matches.
The Middle School fall athletes ran through a balloon arch and were showered with confetti fired from an air cannon before they took to the fields. Girls and Boys Soccer teams each competed against Barrie School teams, and Cross Country ran against Barrie and Woods Academy. While Girls Volleyball didn't compete, they joined in the pep rally festivities.
Younger students watched their “big kid buddies” compete and could also play around on a moon bounce and playground games on the blacktop. A picnic dinner was hosted by the 8th grade class to raise funds for their year-end trip to New York City.
