750 Plastic Water Bottles Avoided and Counting!

We whole-heartedly thank the Class of 2019 for following their innovative instincts and for an incredible gift that students, and the environment, will benefit from. Seven-hundred fifty plastic water bottles avoided and counting! Thank you, Class of 2019!
Last year, Head of School Susanne Johnson, in response to student calls for additional efforts that align with Green School ideals, announced actions that Barnesville School would take to meet those requests. As a result of Mrs. Johnson’s commitment to Barnesville students, the school’s carpool pick-up line was made a No Idle Zone and single-use plastics continue to be phased out in the lunchroom. Now, water bottle refilling stations have been installed on campus to reduce the use of plastic water bottles.

The proposal for this initiative originated from the 2018 – 2019 Student Council. The Council worked with Mrs. Johnson and the facilities team to study the feasibility of the initiative. Ultimately, the refilling stations were a gift from the Class of 2019 to the school. We whole-heartedly thank them for following their innovative instincts and for an incredible gift that students, and the environment, will benefit from. Seven-hundred fifty plastic water bottles saved and counting! Thank you, Class of 2019!
