"BE the Difference" Peace Week Tradition Continues

Each January, Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences celebrates Peace Week with lessons and activities that honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. while also exploring the broader concept of peace that inspired and guided him. This year’s theme was “BE the Difference.”

This year, students and staff gathered virtually as a school community for the Candle Lighting Ceremony.  Each class prepared an art piece, poetry reading, or song that represented this year's theme of "BE the Difference" to share.  After each sharing, Mrs. Johnson lit a candle for the class.

Sharings included song performances, mural displays, poem readings, and more.  View the full Peace Week Candle lighting highlight video here, featuring 5th-grade student John, singing "Light a Candle for Peace" by Shelley Murley.

Peace Week activities and traditions are an important part of Barnesville's Character Education program.
