Welcome New Barnesville Faculty & Staff

We are delighted to welcome exceptional new faculty & staff members to the Barnesville School of Art & Sciences community!
Administration
 
We welcome Julie Grant as our Business Manager. Julie joins us with fourteen years of successful non-profit school leadership experience as both a Business Manager and CFO at Georgetown Hill Early School. She is passionate about life-long learning and excellence in education. Julie has a Bachelor of Science, California State Polytechnic University and a Master of Business Administration, University of Southern California.
 
Additionally, Laura Mears joins us as Director of Admissions and Advancement. Laura has over twenty years of high-level executive experience and a proven track record in Admissions, Advancement, Marketing and Communications. She most recently served as Associate Vice President for Admissions & Enrollment Services for Frederick Community College. She is known for her tremendous energy, innovative thinking, commitment to student success, and technical proficiency. Laura has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Bachelor of Science in Sociology, and Master of Arts in Psychology, Washington College. She will also be serving as one of our Barnesville Girl's Volleyball coaches.
 
Faculty
 
First, we welcome Hilarie Hall as Teaching and Learning Coordinator. Hilarie has fourteen years of teaching experience in independent schools most recently teaching Design Science at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, Potomac, MD. At St. Andrew’s she created the Wonder Workshop and served as a Faculty Facilitator at the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning presenting on the importance of Mind Brain Education. In 2014, Hilarie received the distinguished Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. She has a Bachelor of Science, Marketing, Boston College and Master of Education, Elementary Education, American University. Hilarie will also be serving as one of our Barnesville Cross Country Coaches.

Second, we welcome Leslie Hynes as our Librarian as we celebrate the re-opening of our library after its closure due to COVID-19. Leslie has six years of experience as a school librarian at independent schools in Tokyo, Japan and Boston, MA. She is passionate about children’s literature, inquiry-based learning and providing a welcoming space for students to learn and explore. Leslie has a Bachelor of Arts, East Asian Studies, Simmons College, and is finishing a Master of Fine Arts, Writing for Children & Young Adults at Hamline University.
 
Third, Melissa Ash joins us as Middle School Science Teacher. Melissa has over four years of teaching experience most recently teaching Middle School Science at St. Pius X Regional School, Bowie, MD. She is known as a highly organized educator that builds a strong rapport with her students to support their academic growth and success. Melissa has a Bachelor of Science, Biology, University of Maryland, Bachelor of Science, Psychology, Stevenson University and Master of Art, Secondary Education, Biology, University of Maryland.
 
Fourth, we welcome Bethany McCoy as Athletic Director and Physical Education/Middle School Health Teacher. Bethany brings to our community over a decade of experience in the field of physical education extending from early childhood to adulthood. Her career includes teaching at Sidwell Friends, Burgundy Farm Country Day, and most recently Walkersville High School. Bethany is passionate about teaching and the opportunity to impact the lives of her students through movement, mindfulness and making physical activity something they can enjoy and embrace for the rest of their lives. Bethany has a Bachelor of Science, Physical Education and Health Education, Davis and Elkins College, and Master of Science, Athletic Coaching Education, West Virginia University. She will also be serving as one of our Barnesville Boy's Soccer Coaches.
 
Next, Alika Middleton joins us as our K-8th Art Teacher and Maryland Association for Environmental & Outdoor Education (MAEOE) Coordinator. Alika has eight years of experience teaching art to students from all around the world. As a teacher, she works with students’ individual needs and encourages them to believe in their creative power, inherent imagination, and artistic instincts.  Alika is the founder of Garden Sprouts, a nature, play, and art-based education program and Wild Wonder Creators an art program that nurtures creativity and artistic growth. Prior to her entrepreneurial ventures, she was the 1st- 5th Art and Design Technology Teacher, Washington International School, Washington, DC.
 
Additionally, we welcome Christian Quattrociocchi as our 3rd-8th Spanish Teacher/Peruvian Exchange Coordinator. Christian brings to us four years of teaching experience as a Spanish Language Instructor, Johns Hopkins University. He is fluent in Spanish and enjoys teaching students the practical and relevant skills of the language. Christian recently received a Doctorate in Spanish Language and Literature, Johns Hopkins University. He has a Bachelor of Arts, Spanish Language and Literature & History, Colgate University. Christian will also be serving as one of Barnesville's Boy's Soccer Coaches!
 
Lastly, we welcome Kaitlin Sheppard, Middle School Math Teacher, as she joins Jesse Hardman in the Middle School Math Department. Kaitlin expressed her love for math and has shared her depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for math by tutoring students of all ages including middle school. Kaitlin has worked with children for over four years in her role as Day Camp Director, The Salvation Army and Child Care Director, ABC Care, Inc. Kaitlin has a Bachelor of Science, Mathematics, Shephard University.
 
Support Staff
 
We are delighted to welcome Maxine Campisciano as Kids Club Director and Auxiliary Program Coordinator and Early Childhood Classroom Aide. Maxine is excited to join our staff as she has a deep passion for art, history, and the environment. She recently was a Guest Services Associate at The National Zoo and this fall she is teaching an Art Class at the Delaplaine Art Center, Frederick, MD. Maxine is highly organized and has strong skills in communication, problem solving, and connecting with children. She has a Bachelor of Science, Anthropology, University of Central Florida.
