Barnesville Students Awarded the Kupferberg Cup & Cohen Scholarship

Congratulations to our 2021-2022 student recipients of the Kupferberg Cup & Cohen Scholarship!
The Kupferberg Cup is an award given to a rising 5th-grade student who best personifies "The Barnesville Way."  This award is given to honor and celebrate Ann Kupferberg’s 26 years of dedication to The Barnesville School (1984-2010) as a teacher and Lower School Director.  Ann’s love of learning and passion for education helped to shape Barnesville’s Lower School.

In order to be eligible for this award, the student must have been enrolled in Barnesville for the past three or more years.  The recipient is voted on by the Lower School faculty.  The criteria for this selection are as follows:
  • Adherence to our character words:  kindness, service, perseverance, respect, initiative, courage, cooperation, responsibility, and honesty
  • Good academic standing
  • Potential for leadership in our Middle School
The recipient of the 2022 Kupferberg Cup is Ellsie.

Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences offers rising 6th grade students the opportunity to apply for $1000 in scholarship funding per year.

The purpose of the merit-based Cohen Scholarship program is to honor Frieda Cohen (or “Grandma Frieda” as she was known to Barnesville School students) and her parents, Rose and David Cohen.  This scholarship demonstrates her many years of generosity to Barnesville and her commitment to helping students and families realize the benefits of a Barnesville experience.

In order to be eligible, students must demonstrate academic achievement and good performance in the classroom, perform well on the Cohen Scholarship essay, and exemplify our school’s mission of joy, support, and excellence.

This year’s recipient of the Cohen Scholarship is Devan.

 Congratulations to all!
