Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences | A Summer of Joy: What Happens When Children Have the Space to Wonder?
Summer at Barnesville has always been about more than filling the days. It’s about giving children the freedom to explore, learn by doing, build friendships, and enjoy the outdoors in ways that reflect who we are as a school.
This summer, campers spent their days creating art, experimenting with science labs, intentional games with Coach King, and making the most of our 30-acre campus through daily outdoor adventures! Some of the best moments were not part of the schedule at all. They happened in conversations between new friends, the laughter heard across the playground, the excitement of trying something for the first time, and the quiet moments of discovery outside. It’s a reminder of what can happen when children are given the space to Imagine. Explore. Grow. Achieve.
Guided by our mission to nurture the whole child, each day inspired campers to ask questions, collaborate with others, and discover something new about themselves and the world around them.
One of this summer’s highlights was welcoming Village Edu for an interactive live-animal presentation. Campers met a variety of fascinating animals while learning about the important role insects, reptiles and other wildlife play in healthy ecosystems. It was an opportunity to experience science hands-on and to see how learning comes alive when children can observe, ask questions and interact directly with the natural world.
Coach King joined us this summer, bringing her signature energy to camp, leading games and activities that encouraged teamwork, perseverance, movement, and smiles. Campers learned that some of the best moments happen while playing together.
Of course, no summer at Barnesville would be complete without plenty of opportunities to cool off and explore beyond campus. Water play days gave campers a chance to splash, laugh and enjoy the warm summer weather together, while weekly field trips added another layer of adventure. From amusement parks and nature destinations to hands-on educational experiences, each trip encouraged campers to build friendships and create memories that extend well past the classroom.
Thank you to our campers, families, faculty, staff and community members for making Summer Camp 2026 such a special part of Barnesville. We hope everyone continues to enjoy their summer, and we look forward to welcoming students back to campus for another year of learning, exploration, and community.
