Summer Teacher Adventures: Ms. McMunn and her Animal Friends!
Kay'La Portee & Melissa McMunn
With just 12 days until the first day of school, we’re checking in with Ms. McMunn to see how she spent her summer.
Ms. McMunn stayed close to home, spending much of her summer doing what she loves: working with animals! She showed her poodle puppy for the first time and took Booker, her Irish Water Spaniel, to puppy class.
Animals are also a special part of Ms. McMunn’s connection with students at Barnesville. Last year, she brought her puppies to campus for Puppy Club, giving students the opportunity to spend time with the dogs while learning about animal care, responsibility, patience, and how to safely interact with animals.
And this year, our students will have two new friends to meet! Ms. McMunn will be welcoming two BeBe Parrots, Peek-a-Boo and I-See-You, who will be joining her at Barnesville this school year. We’re excited to see what students will learn from our newest friends and what new adventures Ms. McMunn has in store this school year.
Our teaching encourages students to explore how subjects relate to one another, helping them to make connections that spark inquiry and deepen understanding.
