Joyful Learning Starts Here: A Look Inside Kindergarten at Barnesville
What a tremendous start to the school year in our Kindergarten classroom!
Earlier this month, our kindergarteners explored their brains, the different parts of the brain, growth mindset, and how we make "maps" to learn to read. From sculpting neurons and decoding hidden frozen letters to creating models of Scarborough’s Reading Rope, students discovered that learning happens best when we challenge ourselves in the "stretch zone."
To help bring this concept to life, students stretched rubber bands to represent a growth mindset and learned how growth happens when we step outside our comfort zones and embrace challenges.
Students also paired their learning with Dot Day celebrations inspired by The Dot, practicing creativity, collaboration, and courage.
During Lower School collaborative time, Kindergarten through 4th grade students worked together in mixed-age groups, acting out scenes from the story while building connections across grade levels.
The excitement and curiosity our kindergarteners have demonstrated during these first weeks of school are just a glimpse into the joyful learning experiences that take place every day at Barnesville.
If you have a child who is 3-6 years old and your family would like to explore our Early Childhood, Pre-Kindergarten, or Kindergarten programs, we invite you to join us for our first Playdate of the year, Fall Into Play: Where Fall Fun Meets Joyful Learning on Friday, October 16th from 10 AM - 11 AM.
During your child’s visit, they will have the opportunity to engage in fall-themed play and activities, explore classrooms and outdoor learning spaces, and experience the warm, nurturing environment that helps our youngest learners grow with confidence and a strong sense of belonging.
