Staff Highlight: Mrs. Samantha Hubbard | Assistant Head of School at Barnesville School of Arts and Sciences

Kay'La Portee
In just a few months on campus, Samantha Hubbard has already become a steady, welcoming presence for the Barnesville community. Though she is new to her role as Assistant Head of School, her connection to Barnesville is anything but new. Returning to a place that shaped her life, Samantha now finds joy in giving back to the community that once inspired her.

Before joining Barnesville, Samantha spent 14 years at Friends Meeting School, serving as Academic Dean for grades 5–12 and teaching math. Samantha describes the most rewarding part of working at Barnesville as being part of a community where everyone truly feels known. She values the school’s commitment to belonging, student voice, and leadership—qualities she believes make Barnesville not just a school, but a home.

That sense of home is deeply personal for Samantha. Her son Wesley is a Pre-K student here, and she loves watching him learn, grow, and experience the joyful environment that meant so much to her. She often speaks about how grateful she is to be back in a place that helped shape her early life—now with the chance to share that same magic with her own children. “Barnesville feels like home,” she says. “The mission, the culture, the incredible faculty and staff—it all means so much to me.”

Family is at the center of everything Sam does. She lights up when talking about her two boys, Wesley and Gregory, and says her family means absolutely everything to her. Whether she’s cheering them on at a sports game, exploring a new place together, or simply enjoying a quiet moment at home, her love for her family guides and grounds her.

Outside of her role at school, Samantha is a dedicated sports fan—especially when it comes to the Steelers, Pitt Panthers, and anything soccer. Having played in college and previously coached for Bethesda Soccer Club, the game remains a big part of who she is. She also finds peace in music of all genres, loves animals, and enjoys traveling and making memories with her boys.

Samantha’s return to Barnesville is not just a professional step forward—it’s a heartfelt homecoming. In a short time, she has brought wisdom, positivity, and a deep sense of connection to our community. We are grateful to have her here, leading with compassion, authenticity, and a true love for the Barnesville Way.
