Daughters of the American Revolution: Essay Readings

Chris Krebs

On Saturday, February 14th, four members of the Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences had the opportunity to speak to members of the Goshen Mills Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution as winners of the “Lunch With A Signer” contest held by the D.A.R chapters.

Barnesville was represented by Sawyer Esler, Harper Ahalt, Marissa Rinkoff, and Farrah Gobin.  Each of these students stood before the D.A.R. members and officers to deliver their winning essays, which were written in conjunction with Mr. Christopher Krebs’s Social Studies class and Mrs. Jamie Pearce’s Language Arts class.  The students went through a series of drafts and revisions, and submitted their essays on time in order to be judged by the Chapter representatives. These four submitted essays were chosen as the best entries from their respective grades in the contest. The winners received a D.A.R. certificate, plus a $50 gift card for their participation and eventual winning of the contest.

Congratulations to Sawyer, Harper, Marissa, and Farrah for their excellent work!

A special thanks to Barnesville’s own Melissa McMunn for introducing the contest to the staff and for all of her assistance in the writing and submitting process.

Great job, Barnesville!
