Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences Middle School students proved that reading doesn’t stop when summer begins! This year, each student was encouraged to set a personal summer reading goal and keep a log of the books they read over the break. Their hard work and dedication paid off—35 students met their goals, reading an incredible total of 498 books!
To celebrate this achievement, students who reached their goals gathered on Wednesday, September 24, for a special Summer Reading Reward Picnic. Blankets were spread out across the soccer field as students enjoyed lunch together outdoors, complete with chips, drinks, and cookies. The afternoon was filled with sunshine, laughter, and a sense of pride in their accomplishments.
A special shout out goes to Ms. Pearce for organizing and encouraging students throughout the challenge. Thanks to her leadership and the students’ commitment, this summer was full of stories, adventures, and a love of reading that continues into the school year.
Our teaching encourages students to explore how subjects relate to one another, helping them to make connections that spark inquiry and deepen understanding.
