Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences Values Accreditation
Following the announcement last week at the Parent Gathering, this week, Mrs. Johnson, Head of School, reviewed the timeline for Accreditation with faculty and staff. BSAS earned its ten-year re-accreditation from the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS) in 2015 and is up for renewal after 2025. As shared with parents, she stated that accreditation fosters stakeholder involvement and commitment by providing opportunities for greater involvement in charting the direction and future of the school. Further, she emphasized accreditation as offering a mechanism to involve multiple constituent groups in creating a vision of the future. PARENT involvement as a stakeholder is wanted and appreciated. Indeed, it is vital to the accreditation process. This is one of the benefits of having your child at a private school. By attending Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences, parents and students are partners in the education process. It is through this independent, objective peer review of the school that parents are assured of the plan that is in place to achieve the goals noted in the Strategic Plan. As the school begins its approximately 4-month process of data gathering, followed by 12-18 months of Self-Study with analysis and reflection, we invite all members of our Barnesville Community to be active partners in this process.
Our teaching encourages students to explore how subjects relate to one another, helping them to make connections that spark inquiry and deepen understanding.
