"Spotted in the School"
Leading with Joy… First-grade students surround Mrs. Susanne Johnson, the Head of School after a project story reading. Through the reimagining of experiences that invite students to love learning and to love school, JOY is felt daily. Administration and Teachers regularly create experiences that are meaningful, relevant, and empowering! So, what does JOY look like? Some ways to recognize Joy at the Barnesville School include:
- Students are fully attentive with “minds on.”
- Students are smiling from being encouraged by their classmates and teachers.
- Students regularly experience that ‘light bulb’ moment as they are learning.
- Students demonstrate pride in their work and new learnings.
- Students are motivated to share and teach others.
- Students are engaged and continue to go deeper in their learning and self-discovery.
- Students are continuing conversations about their academic discussions outside of the classroom.
- Students are cheering for one another as they experience the success of a science competition, teamwork at a game, musical performances, and more!
