The School is committed to helping its students recognize the needs of others and the responsibility for serving. While there are many opportunities to serve within our own community, our program extends beyond our own boundaries. At every level in the School, students participate in the Service Learning Program. The School serves community agencies, and individual classes may also select individual projects. Throughout the year, parent/guardian(s) volunteers are asked to support the program in many ways. Middle School community service hours are tracked each year. Upon graduation from 8th grade, an official letter of each student’s total number of community service hours earned is sent home. If your child participates in any outside community service, you may give an appropriate, signed community service form (MCPS or FCPS) to the Assistant Head of School, who will then add the appropriate hours to the total number of hours earned.
Our teaching encourages students to explore how subjects relate to one another, helping them to make connections that spark inquiry and deepen understanding.
