Yazmin Maxwell brings warmth, dedication, and a joyful spirit to Barnesville’s Transportation Team. Celebrating her one-year anniversary with us, Yaz has been a comforting presence for students from the moment she joined the community in November 2024.
Yaz’s passion for working with children began early—starting as a junior camp counselor during her teen years and later volunteering in Early Childhood Education. As she grew, she continued to nurture this calling, working as a classroom assistant for multiple teachers through the Montgomery County Childcare Association. Her background in supporting students shines through in every interaction she has with our Barnesville learners.
For Yaz, the most rewarding part of her role is the relationships she builds with students. Watching children become comfortable, trusting, and excited to see her each day is what fills her cup. She loves being someone students can rely on—whether during their morning ride, afternoon routes, or while helping out in Kids Club.
Although her own children are grown, Yaz continues to pour into young learners with patience, kindness, and positivity. She often says Barnesville didn’t just become a workplace for her—it became a family. “I didn’t choose Barnesville, they chose me,” she shares, reflecting the deep sense of belonging she’s found within our community.
Beyond campus, Yaz brings her creativity and passion to life in meaningful ways. She is a self-published author and a traveling caterer and chef, using food, storytelling, and shared experiences to bring people together. She has also been incredibly generous in sharing her talents with our faculty and staff—treating us to homemade crab pretzels, crab balls, bagels, and even preparing a full Thanksgiving menu for the team. Her dishes are always met with excitement and gratitude, adding an extra layer of warmth to our community.
We are so grateful to have Yaz as part of the Barnesville team—her care, enthusiasm, and community spirit make our school a brighter place every day.
